Before you use it
The plug-in is open source, but the image models it downloads each have their own licence, and some (such as FLUX.1 dev) are for non-commercial use only. Pick your model with that in mind.
Why it's useful
Rough out a character, item icon or background, select a patch and have it painted in to match, or extend the canvas outwards. Live mode redraws as you paint, which is handy for concept art and paint-overs. It sets up its own local ComfyUI backend, so nothing leaves your computer.
What it needs
Krita 5.2 or newer (the newest pre-release is for Krita 6). A graphics card with 6GB+ memory: NVIDIA, AMD, Intel and Apple Silicon all work, CPU is very slow. The maker also sells an optional cloud service; you do not need it.
Image: Viber Cove. Krita AI Diffusion belongs to Acly (Interstice); we just think it's worth knowing about.
